Most known for iconic entertainment venues, Eatons Hill Hotel and Sandstone Point Hotel, the Queensland based Comiskey Group have announced another monumental move within the entertainment sector, a brand new festival site, Coochin Fields on the Sunshine Coast.
Located in Coochin Creek, the 150 hectare site purchased in mid-2021 is 35 minutes south of Maroochydore and 1 hour 20 minutes north of Brisbane, idyllically located to capture both markets, with direct access to the highway.
Currently operating on the land are two turf farms and a strawberry farm, soon to be joined by some of the world’s biggest artists.
The Comiskey Group have a long history operating as hoteliers but made a name for themselves by bringing some of the biggest names in music to their award-winning venues; some of which include, Prince, Ice Cube, Rita Ora, Khalid, The Beach Boys, Ke$ha, Tyga, Bryan Adams, Good Charlotte, SIX60 and Post Malone, to name a few.
The announcement of Coochin Fields is another leap forward for the group and an exciting addition to the Sunshine Coast region.
Comiskey Group Director, Rob Comiskey, has been eagerly awaiting the announcement of the new venture.
“I am excited to bring something special to the Sunshine Coast, the natural festival site is a similar size to North Byron Parklands, so there is plenty of opportunity to host both small and large-scale events with international artists and multiple stages” say Rob.
The Comiskey Group are well-equipped to activate the large festival site with a proven track record, bringing world-class events to Brisbane and the Moreton Bay region since 2011.
Their award-winning purpose-built live music spaces have been complimented with on-site accommodation and offerings, designed to specifically cater to the needs of ticket-holders and the artists hosted.
“Just like our other entertainment facilities, we are looking at how we can make the offering at Coochin Fields as convenient as possible for our patrons. The new concert site will see on-site camping and the ability to book a return bus from a range of locations around Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast” says Director, Rob Comiskey.
Coochin Fields will not only offer plenty of conveniences and must-see artists, but unique activations and experiences that will push the boundaries of what you’d expect from a festival. The Comiskey Group have always been dedicated to providing exceptional live music experiences and have been recognised for their success.
Both Eatons Hill Hotel and Sandstone Point Hotel have taken out the title of “Australia’s Best Entertainment Venue” at the Australian Hotels Association Awards for Excellence. Eatons Hill Hotel has also been inducted into the Hall of Fame for entertainment numerous times at the Queensland Hotels Association Awards for Excellence.
“Coochin Fields will operate as an amalgamation of what we have learnt from years of experience and our motivation to hit the ground running after the pandemic. We are ready to take things to the next level, exceed expectations and bring another great entertainment facility to this great community” says Rob Comiskey.
After the pandemic created a challenging environment for the entertainment industry over the last couple of years, the Comiskey Group’s Entertainment Director, Jonathan (Jono) Jackson is looking forward to bringing live music back to South East Queensland in a big way.
“It’s been a rough couple of years for the live music industry, but I am glad that we can get back to business and bring more local, national and international artists to the stage where they belong. It is a really impressive site that has so much potential. I am looking forward to showcasing the new space to more promoters, we have already seen incredible interest and I know there will be plenty more! The group are already in discussions with existing festivals that are wanting to expand into Queensland with a bang; a brand new festival site with great positioning offers the perfect opportunity to do just that!
