The Comiskey Group took home five prestigious awards at the 2025 Queensland Hotels Association (QHA) Awards for Excellence.
Held annually at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre to celebrate outstanding achievement in the industry, the QHA Awards are a benchmark of quality and innovation. This year, the Comiskey Group was recognised across multiple categories, highlighting the strength and diversity of their growing portfolio.
The group’s standout achievement of the night was the Hall of Fame induction for Sandstone Point Holiday Resort, awarded for winning Best Mid-Range Accommodation three years in a row.
“We’re incredibly proud to see Sandstone Point Holiday Resort inducted into the QHA Hall of Fame,” said Comiskey Group Director Rob Comiskey. “It’s a huge honour and one that reflects the continued efforts of our entire team to deliver a consistent, high-quality experience year after year.”
The Hall of Fame recognition joins a list of other award wins on the night:

- BEST FAMILY DINING – The Doonan
- BEST TOURISM INITIATIVE – Sandstone Point Holiday Resort
- BEST RETAIL LIQUOR OUTLET – Bottlemart Superstore, Eatons Hill Hotel (formerly known as Harry Brown Liquor)
This year’s Best Retail Liquor Outlet win marks the third consecutive victory for the Bottlemart Superstore at Eatons Hill Hotel — securing its place in the QHA Hall of Fame in 2026.
For the second time The Doonan has taken out the Best Family Dining award, reaffirming its status as a favourite destination for families on the Sunshine Coast.
This year marked a meaningful milestone for the family business, as Comiskey Group Director David Comiskey was joined by his three sons for the awards night.
“Being able to bring my three boys to the awards this year made the night even more special,” said Director David Comiskey. “Sharing the success of our family business with them – seeing firsthand what we’ve built and what it means to people – is something I’ll always cherish. They’ve been involved in the business for a few years now, and they understand the hard work that goes into keeping things running. It means a lot to be able to pass on what I’ve learned and see them take an active role in our journey. One day, they’ll have the opportunity to take over – but right now, it’s not just about celebrating the wins. They’re working hard behind the scenes, earning their qualifications, and learning from the experienced teams around them.”
