Today, the Comiskey Group proudly announces the completion of the final stage of the $5 million renovation of the 113-year-old Imperial Hotel in Eumundi.
Now officially open, the revitalised Imperial Hotel has doubled the size of its beer garden, almost tripled the footprint of its outdoor bar, and introduced a brand-new kitchen twice the size, purpose-built to house upgraded equipment and elevate the entire food offering.
The most anticipated feature of the stage-two works is, without question, the beer garden. Long adored by the Eumundi community, the iconic space is now back and bigger than ever, and the Comiskey Group is inviting locals and visitors alike to come experience it firsthand.
Previously home to a modest three-metre bar, the beer garden now boasts an impressive eight-metre bar positioned directly alongside Eumundi Brewery. Guests can order a schooner and look straight into the working brewery through a glass viewing window behind the bar—serving up what is arguably the freshest beer on the Sunshine Coast, poured tank-to-tap.
This one-of-a-kind setup ushers in a new era for The Imperial Hotel—one that celebrates Eumundi Brewery in its traditional home and honours more than a century of heritage. The renovation brings a welcome sense of nostalgia, from the old-school décor and historic photographs lining the walls to a refreshed menu filled with classic pub favourites.
Director Rob Comiskey says the final stage of the renovation marks a major milestone for the historic venue, reflecting careful planning and a deep respect for the hotel’s legacy.
“We opened the first stage of the renovation just over a year ago with a brand-new front bar, gaming room and TAB. Since then, the team has been hard at work completing the rest of the pub. We know locals have been patiently waiting for the beer garden to return, and we’re confident it’s been worth the wait. It’s not only bigger, it’s got a timeless look that nods to the hotel’s rich history, and it’s built for atmosphere. With more local live music on a purpose-built outdoor stage and a new kitchen triple the size, we’ve truly elevated the experience all-round.”
But the transformation doesn’t end here.
Still to come is what will become the Sunshine Coast’s largest hotel kids’ playground — a major addition designed for families and the next generation of Eumundi locals. Construction is already underway, and the Comiskey Group is committed to delivering a playground that exceeds expectations. Families can look forward to its opening in early 2026.
