The Comiskey Group are well-known for owning some of Australia’s most iconic entertainment venues including Eatons Hill Hotel and Sandstone Point Hotel, as well as the highest selling BIG4 holiday park in Australia, Sandstone Point Holiday Resort.

Before building these large-scale landmark venues’, the Comiskey Group built Beachmere Hotel and its adjacent shopping village and childcare centre in 2009.

On 3rd April 2023, after 14 years of ownership, the Comiskey Group settle on the hotel and handed over the coastal property to new owners, Venu Hospitality Group.

Comiskey Group Director Rob Comiskey is sad to see the venue go.

“Going through the process of settlement has brought back so many fond memories at Beachmere Hotel and has reminded me of how far we have come over the years. We are sorry to see the venue go, it has been a great asset. Beachmere Hotel was one of our first pubs so it also holds a lot of sentimental value for my family too, but we are excited to see what Venu Hospitality Group do with the hotel. I’d really like to say a huge thank you to all our staff at Beachmere Hotel, your hard work and dedication have not gone unnoticed. It’s been a pleasure to work with you all” says Rob Comiskey.

The Venu Hospitality Group is a Brisbane based owner and operator of hospitality venues across South East and Coastal Queensland. The Beachmere Hotel will join a stable of recognised brands including the Beach House Bar and Grill chain, the iconic Madame Wu on the riverfront in Brisbane’s CBD and Chu the Phat at South Brisbane. The group has also acquired the Pine Beach Hotel at Emu Park, just south of Yeppoon in Central Queensland.

“We thank the Comiskey Group for the opportunity to become the new custodians of this vital community asset” said Paul Weightman of the Venu Hospitality Group.

“The Beachmere community is anticipated to grow substantially over the medium term, and we are delighted to secure such a modern and family friendly asset to add to our portfolio”

Nick Rosato, Operations Director for Venu said there wouldn’t be any major changes to the Beachmere Hotel over the short term however locals could look forward to an enhanced events programme and a refreshed retail offering with the rebranding of the drive through bottle shop to Liquor Legends.

The sale of Beachmere Hotel is not indicative that the Comiskey Group are slowing down anytime soon. In March the group opened garden-themed hotel, The Doonan, just 8 minutes from Noosa. With major plans for expansion over the next couple of years’, the Comiskey Group have already announced more huge projects to come, including Coochin Fields, a 150-hectare festival site and Aura Hotel, the Sunshine Coast’s largest entertainment venue. Some of the other announced ventures include hotels in Strathpine and Dakabin.
