The industry’s night of nights returned on Monday 3rd June, celebrating excellence in hospitality. The Comiskey Group were in attendance at the 2024 Queensland Hotels Association Awards for Excellence, having booked a whopping 10 tables for their ever expanding team. Finalists in 100% of their nominated categories, the group eagerly awaited the judges decisions and came home with 5 awards:
- BEST FAMILY DINING – The Doonan
- BEST MID-RANGE ACCOMMODATION – Sandstone Point Holiday Resort
- BEST TOURISM INITIATIVE – Sandstone Point Holiday Resort
- BEST RETAIL LIQUOR OUTLET – Harry Brown Liquor, Eatons Hill Hotel
- HALL OF FAME (BEST ENTERTAINMENT VENUE) – Sandstone Point Hotel
Director Rob Comiskey is extremely proud of the team and all that they have and continue to accomplish together.

This year’s QHA Awards was the first ever entered by The Doonan which only opened last year. The team are ecstatic to have won such a meaningful title which encompasses their values.
“It was great to be able to attend this year with our incredible team from The Doonan! Having only opened the venue last year, the 2024 awards marked the first for The Doonan. We are so proud of what we have achieved at the venue and are honoured to have been recognised for our efforts. The Doonan came away with the award for ‘Best Family Dining’. Being a family-owned business, we take pride in the facilities we offer for all ages and the family-friendly environment we aim to create. We are ecstatic to have won a title that is very meaningful to us; this award encompasses our values and how we operate our venues. I’d like to thank our co-owners at The Doonan, Josh Jones and Neville Allen, as well as our amazing team across the venue, those that celebrated with us on the night and those that couldn’t.
