The family-owned Comiskey Group has secured the land tender and proposed a landmark $180 million Town Centre Precinct in North Lakes, set to transform one of Queensland’s fastest-growing areas with a destination unlike anything City of Moreton Bay has seen before.
Occupying a 1.72-hectare site, the Town Centre—dubbed a “mini-James Street”—will combine lifestyle, leisure and hospitality experiences to cement North Lakes’ reputation as a vibrant urban hub. The project is expected to generate more than 880 jobs during construction and operation over the first five years and inject an estimated $538 million into the local economy, while creating a cultural hub designed to meet the needs of the city’s booming population.
Mayor Peter Flannery said the project perfectly captures Council’s ambition to grow a strong visitor economy and deliver new opportunities for locals.“We put the call out last August for an iconic proposal that would elevate City of Moreton Bay on the tourism map, and Comiskey Group’s vision ticks every box with world‑class design by Bureau Proberts, genuine community benefit, and serious economic horsepower for our City,” Mayor Flannery said.
At the heart of the precinct will be a 130-room, 5-star boutique hotel rising above an upscale 2,500sqm Signature Comiskey Group hospitality venue. This centrepiece will be surrounded by premium restaurants, boutique fashion retailers, a gym and wellness facilities.
Designed with the community at its heart, the project will also feature a large green public space created to be walkable, welcoming and alive with atmosphere, providing a true meeting place for North Lakes residents and visitors.
Award-winning architects Bureau Proberts—the visionaries behind iconic projects such as The Eaves at West Village—have been appointed to bring the project to life following a competitive design process.
Comiskey Group Director Rob Comiskey said the precinct will redefine what’s possible for the city. “North Lakes is home to more than 24,000 residents within the booming City of Moreton Bay. Despite this growth, there has never been a central, world-class town centre that brings everything together—until now. This project will be the beating heart of North Lakes: a place to dine, shop, stay and be entertained.”
The project builds on the Comiskey Group’s proven track record of delivering transformative destinations across South-East Queensland, including Sandstone Point Hotel, Eatons Hill Hotel and The Doonan. “My family are proud to invest in a project of this scale—one that will create jobs, energise the economy and, most importantly, give the North Lakes community a destination they can call their own. Detailed design and approvals for the landmark North Lakes Town Centre precinct are expected to progress this year, with construction scheduled to begin in 2026.
