The Comiskey Group is proud to announce State Government approval of Coochin Fields, a 155-hectare site at Coochin Creek on the Sunshine Coast that will become Queensland’s largest dedicated festival site — and a new destination for the biggest names in music, now closer to home.
Approved to host events of up to 35,000 festivalgoers, Coochin Fields fills a long-standing gap in Queensland’s live music and major events infrastructure. For the first time, the Sunshine Coast will have a permanent, purpose-built site capable of attracting major national and international touring artists at true festival scale.
Acquired by the Comiskey Group in 2021, the site is ideally positioned just 35 minutes from Maroochydore and 1 hour and 20 minutes north of Brisbane, with direct access to the Bruce Highway — placing it at the centre of South East Queensland’s growing population and making world-class live music more accessible than ever.
Coochin Fields will be activated throughout the year to host large-scale music festivals, exhibitions and major events. Previously a turf and strawberry farm, the largely cleared site is primed for activation. A significant portion of the land will remain untouched, with extensive revegetation plans that include planting tens of thousands of trees.
The project is expected to deliver substantial economic and tourism benefits to the Sunshine Coast, including:
• More than 680 full-time equivalent jobs
• Over $70 million in annual economic activity
• An estimated $95.1 million in annual visitor expenditure
• Approximately 69,500 visitors per year
• Around 243,100 visitor nights per year
After four years of planning and collaboration with CUSP Landscapes, the approval of Coochin Fields marks a defining moment for Queensland’s live music industry — positioning the Sunshine Coast as a serious contender on the national and international events stage.
Comiskey Group Director David Comiskey said the project represents a generational investment in both the industry and the region.
