The long-awaited Dakabin Hotel officially opened its doors on Wednesday, 21st May, and it’s safe to say the launch was a massive success. With over 5,000 reservations made within just 48 hours of bookings going live, the excitement from the local community has been overwhelming.
The opening day was marked not only by a celebration of good food, cold drinks, and great company, but also by a touching show of community spirit. One of the day’s highlights was the auction of the very first beer ever poured at the new venue. At 11:30am, the Sin Bin Sports Bar officially opened its doors for the first time, welcoming a crowd of eager guests who gathered to witness the auction, place their bids, and help christen the bar in true celebratory style as the ceremonial beer marked the beginning of a new local favourite.
The winning bid came in at a generous $3,600, made by Matt from All Type Metal Roofing who poured and drank the first drink, a Eumundi Brewery Ginger Beer. In a heartfelt gesture, the amount was doubled to $7,200 thanks to the combined efforts of the Comiskey Group, Dakabin Hotel, and Eumundi Brewery.

All proceeds from the auction are being donated to four incredible local charities that play vital roles in the Queensland community:
- Variety QLD, supporting children who are sick, disadvantaged, or living with a disability.
- A Brave Life, helping young and teenage mothers through mentorship and practical aid.
- Meals on Wheels Queensland, providing nutritious meals and companionship to seniors and those in need.
- Moreton Bay SES, whose volunteers offer vital emergency assistance during storms, floods, and natural disasters.
