Six 5,000 liter plunge pools were craned into the new swimmable lake at BIG4 Sandstone Point Holiday Resort this week. Today, the resort announced that all six Overwater Villas will have their very own heated plunge pool partially submerged in the lake, as well as an internal fireplace.
Australia’s most popular BIG4 holiday resort just keeps getting better! Adding to their already impressive 3 heated swimming pools and swim up bar – all resort guests will be able to enjoy a new natural lake and swim among the fish in late 2023!
Due for completion later this year, BIG4 Sandstone Point Holiday Resort will open an all-natural chemical-free lake on-site. Professionally designed for human swimmers and biodiversity, the lake will incorporate pumps and injectors to ensure high oxygen levels and a constant water flow, to allow for live fish and plant-life to thrive.
Currently under construction are six 3 bedroom villas which will overhang the lake. The Overwater Villas feature 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, an open plan kitchen, dining and living area with a fireplace.
The living space will open out to a deck and outdoor dining area with its very own heated plunge pool and BBQ, overlooking lake-views. A ladder hangs from the deck, offering direct access to the natural swimming hole.

The Comiskey Group who built and own BIG4 Sandstone Point Holiday Resort are looking forward to adding this next-level facility to the award-winning resort.
Director David Comiskey has been hard at work overseeing the development.
“The lake itself is a massive project but it’s really exciting seeing it all come together. There’s been plenty of action on-site this week! We hired a crane to start installing the plunge pools, three have gone in this week with the remaining pools going in next week. The pools are 5.2 tonne, pre-cast and fully tiled. They’ve also got a seat inside as well as Jacuzzi jets, so as you can probably guess, that’s where you’ll find me most holidays!” says Director David Comiskey.
If you’re lucky enough to secure a booking, you’ll be able to sip cocktails in your very own private plunge pool in just a few months.
Director Rob Comiskey believes the lake project will be a major draw card for future guests and expects the new Overwater Villas to be in high demand all year around, with the waitlist getting longer by the day.
“We have had over 12,000 people sign up to the waitlist to be the first to know when they can book to stay in these new villas. This was before we even announced any of their exciting features! It seems people are just as excited as I am. It’s a really special project, something you’d expect in the Maldives, not 45 minutes outside of Brisbane CBD!” says Director Rob Comiskey.
When the Comiskey Group announced the Overwater Villas and swimmable lake development earlier this year, they were met with a huge influx of enquiries and media attention. Despite already having seen more interest than they could have ever imagined, the group knew they wanted to take the offering to the next-level and believe the addition of these plunge pools were a perfect fit.
“We wanted to make the Overwater Villas extra special, there were only so many we could fit around the lake and still provide enough privacy for each. It was important to us that we make the most of their amazing location on the lake, ensuring they are a great option all year around. The plunge pools are a touch of luxury but most importantly, it’s a feature that can be enjoyed by the whole family” says Director Rob Comiskey.
It gets even better – whilst the lake itself is open to all guests, those staying in the Overwater Villas will have certain times of the day in which they will be able to enjoy exclusive use of the lake.
